Setting Sail - My Message to you Jacob
[24/7/1783] - Day 24.
Dear Jacob,
I am nervous and feeling sea sick, it's been so long since i've seen land. I'm worried the waters of this mighty water will swallow me up in its big blue mouth.
It feels like forever since i've eaten fresh pig meat or cow meat. i'll make sure to always write letters to you.
It's been a long journey but I will make it out in the end, it will be worth the while of searching...
From Paris.
[3/8/1783] - Day 34
Dear Jacob
I'm terrified right now, its been 34 days since i left the village and it's getting harder to survive. we had to stop on a close island and camp there. were waiting for the big blue water to settle and wait until sunset.
its been amazing and breath taking, wish you were here. i've been fishing and it was fun. I really wanna show you how much I have improved throughout the journey, even show you my skills in fishing, I bet I can beat you no doubt. See you in the long run. From Paris
[1/8/1783] - Day 52
Dear Jacob.
We've finally made it!, I Can't believe it but we have. I'm scared about what we will find here but the view is amazing, we will be sending people back to get you all. in the mean while I will keep sending you letters about my journey. I will finally show you this amazing greenstone I found, the men on my boat made it into a necklace that is blessed by the gods above. I will present it to you when you come. I can't wait to see you, From Paris.
Arriving in New Zealand/Aotearoa - The First Settlers.
In the 1300's it was believed that Polynesian Men & Women were the first settlers in Aotearoa.
Throughout the years, those settlers were as Maori people, These people roamed throughout Aotearoa, discovering new places and new animals/creatures.
As for some Maori people, Like me were told many stories about our ancestors for example, How the Treaty of waitangi came to be,Waitangi Day - The Seven Sisters and many more.
But the most popular stories were legends and myths about the man named Maui and his older brothers.
there are several other books and stories to be told about him, but for today I'm going to tell you some interesting facts about Maui, Then tell you a little story of my own.
Here are 3 interesting facts about Maui

Here are 3 interesting facts about Maui
- Maui is a trickster and would go long lengths for achieving his goals.
- Maui is known around aotearoa who fished up the north island that was said to look like a mighty sting ray.
- He possessed a Ancient jaw bone from Muri Ranga Whenua and used it to catch the might fish.
Here is a story I was told about - Here is a Little summary from a website I found it on
Maui was a demi-god, who lived in Hawaiiki. He possessed magic powers that not all of his family knew about.
One day when he was very young, he hid in the bottom of his brothers' boat in order to go out fishing with them. Once out at sea, Maui was discovered by his brothers, but they were not able to take him back to shore as Maui made use of his magic powers, making the shoreline seem much further away than it was in reality.
So the brothers continued rowing, and once they were far out into the ocean Maui dropped his magic fishhook over the side of the waka. After a while he felt a strong tug on the line. This seemed to be too strong a tug to be any ordinary fish, so Maui called to his brothers for assistance.
After much straining and pulling, up suddenly surfaced Te Ika a Maui (the fish of Maui), known today as the North Island of New Zealand. Maui told his brothers that the Gods might be angry about this, and he asked his brothers to wait while he went to make peace with the Gods.
However, once Maui had gone his brothers began to argue among themselves about the possession of this new land. They took out their weapons and started pounding away at the catch. The blows on the land created the many mountains and valleys of the North Island today.
The South Island is known as Te Waka a Maui (the waka of Maui). Stewart Island, which lies at the very bottom of New Zealand, is known as Te Punga a Maui (Maui's anchor), as it was the anchor holding Maui's waka as he pulled in the giant fish.

Wonder - The Amazing Book & Movie
Oh My God!!!! Today We Just Watched an amazing novel/movie called Wonder.
Lets start from the beginning,Back in term 2 we as Room 10 From TPS started reading wonder, an amazing and interesting book that tells a story about Auggie Pullman, Who has a Facial Deformity that is similar to Treacher Collins Syndrome. He is starting 5th grade at a new school called Beecher Prep.
He is different from all the other students and kids. But what makes him stand out is his amazing knowledge and his journey through his first time at school. He challenges through bullying and staring alot throughout the year. The Pullman Family go through a lot through the year but always stuck together as a family. It was an amazing movie and i recommend people to watch the movie and trailer
My Favourite Quote in that movie and book was If you had a choice between being right and being kind, choose kind.
My Favourite Actor/Person is Auggie, Because he is intelligent, even though he gets bullied he always have the will and motivation to get through them and always keep learning. Auggie pullman is an amazing person, even if he has a facial deformity, He still is an amazing, smart and independent student. He is as normal as anyone else.
The Book and Movie similarities are quite identical but also different. A lot of the scenes are different in the book.
For example, in the book at the Nature reserve Jack,Auggie,Amos,Miles and Henry are in a little argument with 7th grades out in the woods at night. In the movie they are out in the woods but in the evening where the sun is still out. It is incredible that things change from the book and movie.
This book is inspiring and heart warming to people that have a similar syndrome to auggie. it shows them that even if there different, everyone is different in an unique way, No one asked to get anything from the life cycle everyone goes through but receive it for a reason. Being different is unique and amazing. People just look at it different, But once they meet the person its more then it seems.
The Movie and book is inspiring and I love it.
Please watch the movie and book. It will really change your mindset.
